Why doesnt my monitor speakers work? - how do i get my monitor speakers to work

I purchased a new computer. The speakers are already built, but no sound comes out of them. I checked the transmission of audio and its members to work properly, but I said that I need to install speakers? I am so confused. The sound is Realtek. Can anyone help? I will call the store to complain, but I wanted to see if anybody an idea how or what can go wrong before this had. The monitor is a Westinghouse, if it is useful.
